CONCERT UPDATE: Jungle Jazz is ON this Friday!
VMF’s Munyungo Jackson concert this Friday, September 13th will be held as scheduled, hosted by the Ventura Music Festival as a separate entity from the Oxnard Jazz Festival.
Blending African, Latin, and Caribbean grooves with American jazz roots, Jackson describes his music as Jungle Jazz—a hard-swinging style infused with the funky influences of his global upbringing.
A four-time Grammy winner with Keb Mo and Dianne Reeves, Jackson has achieved Gold and Platinum records with artists like Stevie Wonder, Sting, and Kenny Loggins. In his early years, he toured and performed with legends like Miles Davis and many others. With a collection of over 1,200 instruments, Jackson’s diverse musical influences continue to fuel his passion for sharing his music with the world.
