EMPLOYEE JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Marketing and Events Coordinator
Status: non-exempt, regular 24 hours/week – 10 to 4 Mon-Thurs
(Hours increase and include weekends during end-of-july Festival)
Office is closed month of August
Compensation range: $18/hour to $24/hour
Solid, organized, tech-savvy self-starter needed for two-person music festival office. Diverse responsibilities for a skilled, music-loving person. Position directly supports the Executive Director.
Now in its 26th season, the Ventura Music Festival is a world-class, mixed-genre music festival best known for its annual 8-concert series presented the last two weekends in July. Activities the rest of the year include a High School Student Jazz Competition, fundraising Cabaret and Honoree event, young musicians Rising Stars Concert, Music in the Schools program and various donor and public events.
Strong computer, design and tech skills: including updating website (WordPress) and creating social media (Constant Contact) tools for marketing, invitations and the like.
Box office management skills: online, phone and in-person, including set-up and interface with vendors (Vendini).
Event organization skills: during the July festival weeks as well as Cabaret fundraiser in April and several smaller events throughout the year.
Business and finance skills: handle insurance and other professional and vendor relations; knowledge of QuickBooks helpful for interface with bookkeeper and bill-paying.
Office management skills: handling telephone, mail, equipment maintenance and visitors.
Working Conditions: Straighforward office environment calls for extended periods working at a desk and a computer. Position also involves some activities outside the office and regular business hours, especially during the July festival weeks which include one free outdoor performance and six Friday-Sunday concerts at the Ventura College Performing Arts Center.
Past box office/performing arts/event coordinator experience a plus. Computer and tech skills, a must.
Essential attributes: professionalism, discretion, efficiency, creativity; ability to multi-task and work independently, occasionally under pressure.
