From Executive Director Susan Scott
David Krakauer is a clarinet virtuoso with two Festival appearances to his credit. In this “Music Connects” appearance, he is joined by pianist Kathleen Tagg and her “electronic orchestra” in a live performance video-recorded in Germany last year. The piece – “November 22” – is beautiful, haunting and emotional. The composer is their good friend, Syrian-born Kinan Asmeh (another clarinet virtuoso) whose music often conjures remembrances and feelings of home and belonging.
For Krakauer and Tagg, “November 22” is about “the ties that bind us . . . about what connects us all as human beings”.
Perfect. This is exactly what I want to think about right now.
What do you want to think about?
