From Executive Director Susan Scott
|Our 12th Music Connects takes an operatic turn with a beautiful verse from a great Italian art song, Amarosi Miei Giorni, (Love fills my days). Its composer is Stefano Donaudy and the singer is one of VMF’s favorite sopranos, Patricia Lathrop-McPherson, who also happens to be one of our favorite Board members. Her accompanist is the wonderful pianist Helen Farson (who has no affiliation with VMF whatsoever!)|
Patricia’s performance credits involve numerous opera and musical theater companies and festivals, including New West Symphony, the Ojai and Ventura Music Festivals, Cabrillo Music Theater, the Gilbert & Sullivan Repertoire Company and CHICO (the Channel Islands Chamber Orchestra). My personal favorites among her many roles: Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Julie in Carousel and Anita in West Side Story.
Why this piece of music? Patricia says the Donaudy aria always comes to her during trying times and helps to replace anxiety with hope and peace. Let’s see what her intimate MC recital does for you.
Have a safe, happy 4th and if it’s filled with large measures of peace, hope, love and fun, so much the better!
