11/28/12 - Ventura Music Festival Announces Appointment of Executive Director

VENTURA, CA – Mary Braitman, Board President of the Ventura Music Festival, announced today that Ellen Pasternack has been appointed to the position of Executive Director.
“We are delighted that Ellen will be working with the festival as we prepare for our 19th season. She brings with her administrative experience and knowledge that we believe will help move the festival forward, as well as a love and familiarity with a wide variety of music that fits perfectly with the programming of the Ventura Music Festival.”
“I am happy and honored to join the Ventura Music Festival because of its exciting and eclectic programming, emphasis on engaging the entire community, and commitment to education for local youth” said Ms. Pasternack. “I look forward to working with our Artistic Director, Nuvi Mehta, whose talent and vision have helped to grow the festival into the premier musical event that it is today.”
Ms. Pasternack comes to the Ventura Music Festival from a position in development and sales at KDB 93.7FM, the classical music and arts station owned and operated by the Santa Barbara Foundation. Her prior experience includes: six years as the founding Managing Director of SBT: The Santa Barbara Theatre Company, where she was the Producer of the American revival of the Leonard Bernstein-scored Peter Pan; a position as the General Manager and Director of Communication of the Ensemble Theatre Company; five years as the Administrator of the Santa Barbara Performing Arts League where she coordinated the marketing, and represented the interests, of over fifty performing arts groups; and, working as the Managing Director of the Santa Barbara Festival Ballet, where she produced its annual Nutcracker performances with live orchestra at the Arlington Theatre. She has training, and performing experience, in classical piano, violin, harp and voice. Ellen is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Liberal Studies.

3/24/12 - VENTURA COUNTY STAR:

"(That) was humbling," Aguayo said of the experience. "How 12 artists took the same object and transformed it into their own vision is inspiring. Maybe it's similar to the excitement a musician feels jamming with other musical talent." READ MORE!
